Speaker Update: Robert Hairstans

Globally over the next 20 years there will be over $100 trillion of investment in buildings, infrastructure and transport . By 2100 due to global population expansion we will require to build over 2.3 billion homes. The UK demand for housing and buildings is unprecedented in its scale. As such the expansion of offsite construction is not a passing fashion but a process which has the ability to significantly expand the UK’s future manufacturing base. Given the global material resources constraints in the coming decades timber offsite construction is now being viewed by many countries as a key delivery route. This session will discuss the growth in timber offsite construction, new innovations, challenges and key skills developments needed.
