Gerald Naylor is Director of the Construction Wales Innovation Centre a unique collaborative venture between the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and the Construction Industry Training Board.
Previously, Gerald was Head of the Built Environment at Coleg Sir Gâr with over twenty years’ experience in delivering and managing vocational education and training in work-based learning, further and higher education. He received a college award in Recognition of National Success for Collaborative Partnerships in 2012.
Gerald is a part-time Estyn (HMI) Inspector for work based learning and further education and is an External Examiner for the University College of Estate Management. He is also an External Verifier for the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and formally the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).
Gerald has a long association with the CIOB serving the industry at regional and national levels. He was instrumental in setting up the first CITB-CIOB Sector Skills Council Agreement and has jointly developed a CIOB Higher Apprenticeship in Construction Site Management programme with CITB Wales. He is a Fellow of the Institute and currently Vice Chair of the Cardiff Hub as well as Chair of the Awarding Organisation Management Committee. He was presented with the CIOB Recognition of Achievement Award 2014 at the Members Forum in Qatar.
Gerald is currently Vice Chair of the British Association of Construction Heads (BACH) Wales and represents Wales on the National Executive. He is also a founder member of the Built Environment Strategy Advisory Group (BESAG) a CITB/BACH/Colegau Cymru (Colleges Wales) partnership.
Gerald has developed and reviewed many construction related qualifications for Pearson Education, CIOB, CIH and the Construction Industry Council and has written a number of vocational education and training research articles.
